Do you ever get the feels from unexpected sources? Like I got pretty emo watching that Amazon commercial during the pandemic of the ballerina who’s performance got canceled. We all remember the infamous malicious killing of Mufasa by his own brother in front of his son which still crushes some of us (me) to this day. I think we’ve all been caught off guard once or twice with the feels and experienced something relatable in an unexpected way. Here are some characters or songs that unexpectedly touched my heart and made me feel as though the artist was expressing something deeper than what was on the forefront.
Speechless live action Aladdin beautifully sung by Naomi Scott written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul
I cry every time I hear this, I play this when I am at my lowest. How can I stay silent for so long, enduring pain people brush off as nothing to them. I completely feel this song, and think you should keep it when you need a personal connection and the strength of many. Gives me life.
Moana How far I'll go beautifully sung by Auliʻi Cravalho written by Lin Manuel Miranda
I don’t think I’ve ever felt normal in my family, accepted or understood. I know what my family wants me to be and do, but I have a calling for something more, something different and exciting. I wish I could be the perfect daughter that they want me to be, but my body is rejecting the path they want me on.
Rewrite the Stars sung by Zendaya & Zac Efron written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul
This movie was amazing and will be a classic in my heart always and anytime. Do you know what it's like to love someone so effortlessly and deeply? You think of them every moment and even after all this time has passed they can still get you to feel like the first day you met. But no, that can't be. You don't belong together. You don't fit and won't be accepted. As hard as we all try for acceptance for everyone, It is not happening. At first I was optimistic, thinking, look at us loving and living with not a care in the world. Now I am realizing my reality is scary. More and more relationships are crumbling due to peoples unwarranted feelings about us. All of us.
Part of your world written by Howard Ashman and composer Alan Menken sung by Jodi Benson
Ms. Bailey you are a doll, sooo looking forward to your rendition of this. Shoutz baby!

My son is the one who brought the light of these lyrics to my eyes. When he was in first grade I believe his teacher Ms. Spinelli played the song for the kids and he learned every word. My son has been diagnosed with Autism since he was two years old but has an amazing memory although he’s very shy communicating. As I listened to this myself, again, I began to relate to the lyrics and could see how my son may feel. I interpret my sons behavior in many different ways. I think he may have felt that he wanted to be apart of our world, but that he was not. He (we) began collecting Disney stuffies and figurines of his favorite things. “Look at this stuff, isn’t it neat, wouldn’t you think my collections complete, wouldn’t you think I’m a girl, a girl who has everything.” Using his treasures he gets to relive every moment, experiencing this world in his own way. I will help him every step of the way to be happy with who he is and know that he is part of our world.
Reina Glitch Crowne from Rainbow High played by Stephanie Southerland
Holy shit this just recently got me. Damn. COMPLETELY GAVE ME CHILLS. So this chick Glitch had a pretty rough time and was doing her best to find her voice again, all while putting on that social, confident, happy face everyone is used to. Sounds like someone I know. She gets very anxious with the pressure of her peers to perform well as she made a mistake in the past. She goes in the auditorium and sings “Find my voice” exhibiting practice and strength. When it is time for her to perform she goes on to kill it and the song is Found my voice. Wish I had Glitch’s swag. Take a listen and Steph you have a killer voice!! It gave me goosebumps, shoutz to you boo!

If this isn’t the best short!! Like not only is it super relatable, they finally changed it up and portrayed something different….like normalcy. Ya know real relationships. Sick dancers rekindle their love in a NY city style setting. Genius! No princesses and no saving the day from a dragon. The animations are amazing and the dancing and music is awesome. Hubby and I watch this often, as he feels he relates to the wife, appreciating life for what it is, was and wanting to make more memories together in the now. I personally relate more to the husband, feeling a little grumpy, stuck and longing to relive all things from my past. I want to dance and perform and do amazing things once more, I still got it! I am reaching for that rain, but my boo, who never leaves my side even when I’m sir struggles, helps me to understand that we can still enjoy life together, old yet happy hehe!
Feast Disney plus
My doggo Apollo has been in our family since birth, as I always carried him in my Louis speedy. He fit perfectly with his little head poking out. Feast, is such a true story for the life of a dog, they do get neglected/ ignored from time to time when new family members enter the picture or relationships change. They are crucial members of the family too and feel the same loss and pain as humans.

Feast was a little wake up call to always remember to give snuggles, snacks, treats and love to an important member of the fam. He protects the whole house, although has a strange want for friendship with squirrels, he’s an overall cool super lovable little buddy. Umm excuse me he’s also a certified service dog, dripping accreditations! Hehe!
Love on your pets people, they naturally love you even if your a jerk lol. Try not to be though…
Encanto in general. Songs written by Lin-Manuel Miranda and scores composed by Germaine Franco. This feels like it was written about my family, your family, everyone’s family regardless of culture. Seriously. All of those songs are amazing but some hit home and the characters were amazingly represented in image and personality. My brother “Bruno” and sister “Isabella” are exact replicas of their characters. EXACTLY. As well as Camilo representing my other brother. Surprise! Surprise, Abuela is very similar to my grandma and Agustin is my dad literally. Although funny thing is I completely resonate with Mirabel at her age, although our stories did not turn out the same. For me, dear Mira, I have been transformed into Bruno, kind of what you would have been if you weren’t successful in your plight.
I’m still “Waiting on a miracle”… sung by Stephanie Beatriz
*On the day she was to record the song she began having contractions. Stephanie did not alert anyone at Disney and sung her heart out through labor pains. Beautiful little Rosaline was born the next day. You are a badass and this song is everything for me and a lot of us out here. Thank you.
Surface pressure sung by Jessica Darrow
Not only is Luisa one of my favorites but how freaking amazing is this character. Luisa is super strong and takes care of her whole family and the village but in actuality, feels she is under a lot of pressure and things will fail if she does not succeed. Don't we all. The pressure is insurmountable as she’s fixing houses, chucking donkeys and helping everyone. It doesn’t stop for her and she fears she may not be able to control everything in order to hold everyone and everything together for her family. She buckles, she bends, but never breaks.... NO MISTAKES!
*Lin wrote this song during the pandemic when he felt the pressure to provide and protect his family during those stressful worrisome times*
We don’t talk about Bruno sung by whole cast. Bruno played by John Leguizamo
So this is super current right now. For example, all of those people who warned us about climate change and were considered crazy in the 90's are sipping that I told you so tea right now. Just because something is scary or alarming, that still doesn’t mean you hide, ignore or shame the people who spoke up. I hate that in some families if bad things happen, the “mums the word” technique is often used. They say “don’t air out your family’s dirty laundry” or something. I think that is so stupid because if your family is doing the wrong thing or you are being hurt, you speak up. I did not speak up and look at my lonely Bruno ass now. You don’t like me because I live the truth and you have those rose colored shades on poppin. So many interpretations for him though. Solid character.
Two oruguitas (dos oruguitas) sung by Sebastian Yatra.
This really hit me during the beginning of this insane attack on Ukraine. I kept thinking all of these families are being ripped apart and killed, raped and massacred. This is a genocide. They have to escape, I WOULD! But, this is not new. This is life everyday for some people that would do anything to get into the U.S. due to their country's set of laws. In some places they sell your daughters off at like 8 years old to marry old fucks, and in some countries if you have too many kids they take the “extra ones” away and place them in a detention center only to find their parents and siblings in their elder years. This world is a messed up place and I think this song gave us an eye opener. It allowed us to experience what people go through and understand the hard decisions needed to be made in order to just live. Smfh. I put myself in their shoes and I would damn sure be crossing rivers in the fucking jungle in order to protect my family. They are burning down my house, there is no time to get my legal papers in order, sometimes you gotta make moves.
(it annoys me that the video keeps captioning "singing in foreign language.") I chose this version for good reason, the message is clear in any language and we are all human.
Please get your legal papers in order when you are stable. Be a voice for your family and do not let a legal document stop you and get it. You will feel silenced, and as I've told many parents before, you are your kids advocate, you've made it this far. Don't let anyone try to silence you due to a technicality.

DC Super Hero Girls Episode 28 The Good, The Bad, and the Bizarre
People want to write a story about you, that you do not necessarily defend, you just take the heat, stay quiet and keep moving. At times you’ll separate yourself completely in order to change the story and clear your name. Yet still, you do not defend yourself, you just attempt to do more good in order to even things out, while everyone's still chatting. You’d think you'd be left alone right? No, they love that you didn't stand up for yourself, because now your their personal punching bag. You believe that you are the bad guy and that everyone might be right. But you aren't what they say, you are you and the best kind of person. Don't let the Bizzaro-you take over the story, and let the story tellers talk their talk and you write or rewrite your story your own way!
I feel that this one needs a part two. Fingers couldn’t stop typing! I have too many relatable people and songs but want to give these their shine. Enjoy these, and please look forward to more.
